An obstacle detection means for vehicle window lift systems comprises first and second conductive members 10, 11 movable into or out of contact with each other. When the window (not shown) reaches the top of its travel, or if an object is trapped by the window's upward movement, an outer tube 14 will be deformed and the conductive members 10 and 11 come into electrical communication through their respective carriers, the coextruded conductive elastomeric fillers 12 and 13. A connector is provided to join the conductive members 10 and 11 to the vehicle electrical system and comprises an insulating member 28 which extends between the conductive members 10, 11 over part of their length and which defines two cavities 25A and 25B within the tube 14. Conductors 27A and 27B are carried by the insulating member 28 and the cavities 25A and 25B are filled with conductive rubber to provide electrical connections between the conductive members 10, 11 and the conductors 27A, 27B. |
