PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily decompose even a small amount of ethylene oxide gas by a method wherein in a decomposing agent of ethylene oxide used for desteri lizing treatment of a medical tool or the like, bromine and palladium are supported on a porous carrier. SOLUTION: The ethylene oxide decomposing agent suitable as a protective material against exposure of high concentration for a short time and exposure of low concentration for a long time of ethylene oxide gas(EOG) used as desterilizing gas of a disposable medical tool, is composed of a porous carrier and bromine and palladium which are supported on the porous carrier. Though the porous carrier is not especially limited, but active alumina, zeolite, etc., can be used, since it is adsorbed as a form of acetic acid, active carbon is preferably used. Further, an amount of bromine to be supported on the porous carrier is 0.01 to 20 wt.%, and an amount of palladium is necessarily 0.05 to 5.0 wt.%. Then, the palladium to be used is exemplified by inorganic acid palladium, organic acid palladium, etc. |
