PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new polynucleotide, having a high identity to a nucleic acid capable of coding a prolyl tRNA synthetase, containing a specific amino acid sequence and derived from a specified microorganism and useful for the production, etc. of an enzyme useful for the screening, etc. of an antibacterial compound. SOLUTION: This new polynucleotide comprises a polynucleotide having at least 70% identity to a polynucleotide coding a polypeptide containing an amino acid represented by the formula, a polynuleotide having at least 70% identity to a polynucleotide coding the same mature polypeptide expressed by a proS gene contained in Streptococcus pneumoniae which is a deposited strain, a polynucleotide, etc. containing the amino acid sequence at least 70% identical to the amino acid sequence represented by the formula and is useful for the production, etc. of a proS polypeptide used for the screening, etc. of an antibacterial compound by a recombination method. |
