PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high density optical recording medium having a favorable recording property by a method wherein the recording layer contains a metal complex of a specified azo compound and a specified phthalocyanine coloring matter, and their mixing is made a specified molar ratio. SOLUTION: For an optical recording medium wherein a recording and the reproduction are possible by a laser beam of a wavelength of 620690nm, the recording layer comprises a substance for which an azo coloring matter represented by formula I, and a phthalocyanine coloring matter represented by formula II, are mixed./The mixing ratio for them is 99:1-75:25 by a molar ratio. In this case, a ring A represents a heterocycle containing nitrogen atom and a carbon atom, and a ring B represents an aromatic cycle containing two carbon atoms. Also, X represents a group having activated hydrogen. X1 -X4 represent halogen atom, Y1 -Y4 represent oxygen atom or sulful atom, and Z1 -Z4 represent a hydro carbon group having a non-substitutional or substitutional group of a total number of carbon atoms of 3-18. l1 l4 each represent 1 or 2, m1 -m4 each represent an integer of 0-3, and M represents two hydrogen atoms, a bivalent metal or a halogen compound. |
