PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control an ejection state by an extremely simple circuit and drive method while realizing high density arrangement. SOLUTION: A drawing-in type movable valve 31 allowing negative pressure to act on the interior of a first liquid passage accompanied by the disappearance of air bubbles generated in an air bubble generating region 11 is provided and air bubbles 41 are generated in the air bubble generation region 11 and, thereafter, by allowing generated air bubbles to disappear, negative pressure is allowed to act on the interior of the first liquid passage 10 to retract the meniscus of an ejection orifice 18. By the retraction of this meniscus, the amt. of the liquid present between an air bubble 40 and the meniscus is reduced and the amt. of the liquid ejected from the ejection orifice 18 is reduced. This meniscus is used to control the amt. of the liquid ejected from the ejection orifice 18 by the drawing-in type movable valve 31.
