RADIATION CURABLE COMPOSITION FOR COATED OPTICAL FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a cured body having satisfactory transparency and less liable to discoloration and yellowing at a high curing rate by incorporating a radiation curable oligomer, a radiation curable monomer diluent and a specified photoinitiator. SOLUTION: The radiation curable compsn. contains 10-90 wt.%, preferably 20-90 wt.% radiation curable oligomer whose number average mol.wt. is 700-10,000 Dalton, preferably 1,000-8,000 Dalton, especially preferably 1,000-6,000 Dalton, 10-90 wt.%, preferably 10-80 wt.% radiation curable monomer diluent which is a monomer having an acrylate functional group or a vinyl ether functional group and a 4-20C alkyl group or a polyether part and has a mol.wt. of <=500 or <=300 mPa.s viscosity at a room temp. and 0.05-15 wt.%, preferably 0.1-10 wt.%, especially preferably 0.1-5 wt.% photoinitiator of the formula (where Ar1 is phenyl and Ar2 and Ar3 are 2,4,6-trimethylphenyl).
