PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new organic compound, having excellent lubricity and useful especially as a lubricant for a lubricating film of a magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by the formula R1 -R0 -R1 or R0 -R1 [R0 is a chain saturated organic group; R1 is CH2 -O-(CH2 )p -[CH(CH3 )]k -[C(CH3 )2 ]t -R2 , with the proviso that (p), (k) and (t) are each an integer of >=0; (p)+(k)+(t)}>=2; R2 is phenyl or the like], e.g. a compound represented by formula I. The compound represented by formula I is obtained by adding a compound represented by formula II to tertiary butyl alcohol containing potassium tertiary butoxide, keeping the resultant solvent at 30 deg.C for 4 hr, then adding a sufficient amount of a cinnamyl halide to the resultant solvent, keeping the prepared solvent at 30 deg.C for 12 hr, further adding a large amount of water to the solvent, regulating the resultant solvent to pH 6-8, well shaking the regulated solvent for mixing, separating a layer precipitated to the bottom, washing the separated substance with water and ethyl ether, drying the washed substance at 100 deg.C for 2 hr, purifying the dried substance, placing the produced substance in ethanol solvent and subsequently stirring the resultant mixture in the presence of a catalyst at ambient temperature for 15 hr while adding hydrogen gas thereto. |
