PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new nucleic acid compound, having a base sequence complementary to a specific number of contignuous base sequences of a specified base sequence, capable of inhibiting the expression of a vascular endothelial cell growth factor and useful as a carcinostatic agent, etc. capable of suppressing the angiogenesis and further useful as medicines, diagnostic agents, etc. SOLUTION: This new antisense nucleic acid compound has a base sequence substantially complementary to at least 10 continuous base sequences in a base sequence represented by formulae I to IV and is capable of inhibiting the expression of a vascular endothelial cell growth factor and useful as a carcinostatic agent, etc. capable of suppressing the angiogenic actions of the vascular endothelial cell growth factor for making a blood vessel reach a solid tumor. The antisense nucleic acid compound is obtained by calculating an energy of forming a double-stranded chain of a nucleic acid base, selecting a base sequence composed of a base sequence comprising 10-30 bases from a base sequence in a region supposed to produce antisense nucleic acid effects by the prediction, site prediction, etc. of a secondary structure of the vascular endothelial cell growth factor mRNA and synthesizing the nucleic acid compound complementary to the base sequence. |
