PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To print a font with a proportional pitch vertically with a good balance. SOLUTION: When the present printing mode is vertical writing at S102, it is judged at S103 whether the font selected at the step S101 is a font with a fixed pitch or a proportional font. When it is a font with a proportional pitch at S103, whether it corresponds with vertical printing or not is judged at S104. When it does not correspond with vertical printing at S104, it proceeds to S105 for judging whether or not a replacing font corresponding with vertical printing exists. When there is a replacing font at S105, the selected font is substituted into the replacing font. When there is no replacing font at S105, it proceeds to S108 so that the centered printing output can be provided when the vertical printing treatment is actually conducted by switching on the centering flag and inputting the letter code to be referred. |
