The process entails dispersing the detergent over the crockery or giving it such a composition that at least on the crockery, preferably on the sloping parts thereof, a clear visual distinction is obtained with rinsing water. Foaming of the detergent on the crockery currently gives the clearest visual indication. The process is based on the detergent being clearly visible on the crockery, such that the operator can detect whether the application of detergent to the crockery is required. The invention is particularly applicable to the conveyor type of dishwasher.
