FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: arrester has two connecting accessories spaced apart along axis with at least one variable capacitor placed in-between. Connecting accessories and at least one variable capacitor are pressed together to ensure contact pressure in mechanically stable active part of arrester for protection against surge voltages. Active part is enclosed in molded case made of insulating material. Active part is compressed by means of at least two loops independently acting on connecting accessories. Loops are spaced at certain distance from at least one variable capacitor. Connecting accessories have respective supporting surfaces according to number of loops; they are uniformly arranged in azimuth around pins mounting respective ends of loops.
