Bead solid compounds have specific surface area of less than 70 sq.m/g as determined by BET method; pore volume is higher than 0.5 cubic cm/g, as determined by mercury method and at least 50% pores have radii of greater than 800 <EMI ID=0.442 HE=6 WI=3 TI=CHI>. The present invention describes olefin polymerization catalyst based on bead component and aluminium alkyl. The claimed process comprises reacting (a) <EMI ID=0.443 HE=6 WI=21 TI=CHI> wherein <EMI ID=0.444 HE=3 WI=21 TI=CHI> and R is alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl containing 1-12 carbon atoms and (b) titanium compound of formula: Ti(OR)<SB>n</SB>X<SB>y-n</SB> wherein n is 0-0.5, Y is valency of titanium, X is halide, R is alkyl containing 2-8 carbon atoms or COR. IN this case compound (a) is prepared by chemically by removing alcohol from adduct of formula: <EMI ID=0.445 HE=6 WI=21 TI=CHI> wherein <EMI ID=0.446 HE=3 WI=21 TI=CHI>. Process for polymerizing olefins CH<SB>2</SB>= CHP wherein R is hydrogen or C<SB>1-12</SB>-hydrocarbon in the presence of catalyst. The claimed catalysts are advantageous in that they are useful for preparing polymers in the form of spherical particles having good morphological characteristics such as high volumetric density.
