<p>A capacitive measurement system including a set of electrodes, multiplexing means for connecting the electrodes to capacitive measurement electronics, and control and processing means. The set of electrodes consists of one or more electrode groups that each comprise a plurality of substantially juxtaposed and contiguous electrodes forming a corresponding number of electrode mats. The control and processing means and the multiplexing means together assign a function to each electrode, such as a measurement, separation or injection function, although the electrodes do not have a predetermined and unchangeable function. The system may further include a subsystem for sensing mechanical stress on the electrode mats. Said system may be used for the detection and identification of vehicle passengers, for surveillance in room spaces, for assisting the loading of containers, and in chairs and beds for the disabled.</p> |
