The noise protection barrier is formed from quartz sand which has a grain size between 0.7 and 2.5 mm. The grains of sand may be separate from each other and are then held in a container which is shaped to suit the requirements of the installation. The container may consist of a wire mesh with the mesh size being smaller than the grain size. Alternatively the grains may be bound together by a binding medium, such as a ceramic, mineral, hydraulic or synthetic resin binding medium, to form a porous mass. USE/ADVANTAGE - Low cost method of providing protection from noise.
