A sound insulation member for application to plumbing equipment and piping for air conditioning equipment in buildings. The sound insulation member has a sound insulation layer having a surface density of 1.5 to 5.0 kg/m<2> and a noise absorption layer having a thickness of 4.0 to 10.0 mm, so that it is lightweight and easy to handle, and has an excellent sound insulation performance.
