Device for holding in position a system for clamping two members

Two parts (1,2) of a steering column are connected by a clamping system (3) having a clamping spindle (4) passing through them. A soft plastic gripping runner (9) fixed on the second part is passed through by the clamping spindle. A metal rack (7) with teeth (14) is arranged on a base (11) which is mounted on the clamping spindle. During placing in the locked position of the clamping system the rack teeth penetrate into the soft plastic of the runner to hold the two parts in relative position.
