The armoured glass comprises a frame which holds a number of coated glass sheets (1,2) in laminar form. At least one glass sheet (1) has a section (12) which protrudes beyond the other sheets to form a step. The protruding section is located on the frame. The surface over the stepped area has a plastics holder (10) which prevents splintering. The holder is preferably made of polycarbonate.
