Locking assembly comprising a slide member (63), housing (61), receiver (62) and locking mechanism (70) housed in slide member (63). The slide member (63) is slidable within the housing (61) and can be inserted into the receiver (62). The slide member may be circular. When in the bolted position the end of the slide member is held within the receiver by the interaction of a lock bolt (78), which extends from the slide member, and a stop member (87) provided on the inside of the housing. The slide member can be locked in both bolted and unbolted positions. An alternate embodiment is locked using a padlock. The assembly can be used for a variety of purposes eg. doors, gates, shutters and in particular security post assemblies consisting of a post (31), base (2), and slide member (33). The post (31) forms a housing for the slide member (33) and in the bolted position one end of the slide member is received into an open mouth of the base (2). The slide member (33) may be locked in both the bolted and unbolted positions by locking mechanism (44). Alternate embodiments (see fig 6A) include ramps on either side of lowered post, post pivotable in two directions or tube and post not connected by pivoting means. |
