Dot generation method for dot matrix printer

The method involves using a solenoid type actuator to provide a print dot. The density of the dot depends on the impact force. The dot density can be adjusted via varying current pulse duration from outside the dot matrix printer. The system has a memory (50) that stores print parameters and in particular relates the solenoid activation period to the print dot density. A keyboard (40) is provided for entering the print density required.
