摘要 The present invention pertains to the field of polarisation devices and may be used in lighting fixtures, in the production of glass for the building industry as well as in displays. This invention relates to a dichroic polariser that comprises a substrate and at least one layer for the dichroic absorption of electro-magnetic radiation. The polariser also comprises two reflective coatings, one of which at least is partially transparent, wherein the layer for the dichroic absorption of electro-magnetic radiation is placed between said reflective coatings. The widths and the materials of said absorbing layer and reflective coatings are selected according to conditions that provide, at the output of said dichroic polariser, an interference minimum of the absorption component for at least one wavelength. According to this invention, the efficiency of the dichroic polariser is increased due to the higher polarisation level of the electro-magnetic radiation as it exits said polariser, while maintaining a high transparency (reflection) ratio for the non-absorbed component.
