<p>A new collector for froth flotation of copper and copper-activated minerals comprises the combination of an alkyl xanthate and a dialkyl thionocarbamate. A preferred embodiment comprises the combination of sodium isopropyl xanthate and ethyl isopropyl thionocarbamate in the approximate proportions of 90% and 10% by weight respectively. In comparison with the prior art collector sodium isopropyl xanthate, the new collector produces higher metallurgical yields for copper and copper - activated minerals (zinc, arsenic and molybdenum) and associated precious meta ls (silver and gold), more rapid flotation kinetics, higher pyrite rejection and a lower reagent dose requirement.</p> |
