A protector device (13, 14) to be employed at outwards/inwards facing, screw threaded, endwise assembleable pipe sections (12), for drilling/production pipes to be used in oil/gas wells. The protector device (13, 14) being arranged to be fixed at a respective end (12a, 12c) of the pipe section for sealing off of the pipe end and protecting threaded pipe portions (12b, 12d). The protector device (13, 14) is axially displaceable in the pipe end (12a, 12c) and includes a pipe end protecting cap member (15) and a tension means (16) cooperating with the cap member (15) for fixing the cap member (15) in liquid tight manner in the pipe end (12a, 12c). The cap member (15) is allowed to be fixed in radial direction via the tension means (16) against the inner face of the pipe end (12a, 12c) with an adjustable tension force. The cap member (15) is overlapping the outwards respectively the inwards facing screw threaded pipe portion (12b, 12d) of the pipe end in a threading protecting manner by means of a radially facing support face.
