Up-regulated allosteric mutants of plant ADPG-PP enzymes having (1) higher sensitivity to allosteric activators (2) lower sensitivity to allosteric inhibitors; (3) increased starch production; (4) increased yield; (5) increased plant size; (6) increased growth rate and (7) increased number of seeds, and methods for efficiently producing and identifying such mutants.
