The brake (1) has a braking face on the front side of a plastics pad (5) mounted with its rear side against a stop wall (6). The plastics pad can be elastically deformable around the braking force receiving point. The stop wall can be formed as a holder for the pad and braking surface. The pad can include a sensor switch to actuate the brake on deformation of the pad.
