Detection of protease activity for insulin-like growth factor binding proteins (IGFBP-proteases) comprises the use of non-radioactively-labelled substrate selected from IGFBP, its fragments which fit the binding site of the protease, or synthetic substrates which imitate the binding site of the protease.
