<p>A PCMCIA card (10) comprises a connector (18), a frame (40), a substrate (42), and a metal cover having a top cover pane (44). A ground plate (20) having rearwardly extending ground contacts (90) is carried on the upper surface of the connector (18). The frame (40) includes an insulative cross beam (104) adjacent to the rear of the connector (18). The cross beam (104) supports the top cover panel (44) of the card to prevent the top cover panel (44) from contacting the connector ground plate or the contacts extending from the ground plate (20). Along with portions of the ground plate (20), the cross beam flange (124) closes off the space between the connector (18) and the front edge (144) of the top cover panel. The top cover panel (44) includes a pair of laterally spaced, forwardly extending tabs (150, 152), each tab overlaying an end shoulder surface on the connector (18).</p> |
