Drugs for treating or ameliorating complications of diabetes, characterized by containing as the active ingredient at least one potassium channel activating agent. It is expected that these drugs are efficacious in treating or ameliorating complications of diabetes such as retinopathy, neurosis, nephropathy, peripheral circulatory disorder and skin ulcer. Moreover, they are efficacious in preventing, ameliorating, relieving and curing various symptoms and abnormalities caused by these diseases, for example, blindness, proteinuria, pain, numbness, cold flush, intermittent claudication and gangrene.
