PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To add code information without degrading image quality by adding image information whose color characteristics or color density characteristics are changed corresponding to the code information, to pixels around the edge of a printing part in a source image based on image information stored in a memory. SOLUTION: The size of a small area, the number of small areas and code information desired to be added to the small area are set by a setting means 4. Based on the information set by the setting means 4, the small area is segmented from the image information of the source image stored in a memory 2 by an image area segmenting means. One pixel row of the segmented small area is extracted by a pattern generating means 14 and it is discriminated whether the color information of a pixel is black or not for each pixel. When it is a black pixel, it is changed into color information corresponding to the code information to be embedded. Based on the set code information and stored data, a deviation amount a corresponding to the code information is found and stored in a memory 16. |
