PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the breakage of an intermediate transfer belt after a repeated use over a long period and prevent a defective image due to the occurrence of a leak caused by it by providing a tape having the volume resistivity, adhesive strength, and breaking elongation with the specific values or above in the image nonforming area of the intermediate transfer belt. SOLUTION: A tape is provided in the image nonforming area, i.e., end sections or opening sections formed at the end sections, of an intermediate transfer belt 20 made of a resin or rubber. The volume resistivity of the tape is 10<10>Ω.cm or above, preferably 10<12>Ω.cm or above, and the measurable limit with high accuracy is about 10<17>Ω.cm. The adhesive strength of the tape is preferably 0.75 kg or above, however it is set to 5 kg or below in view of productivity and heat resistance. The breaking elongation of the tape is 5% or above, preferably 10% or above, further preferably 100% or above, however it is desirably set to 1000 % or below in view of the fact that the tape is excessively extended and is easily sagged.
