PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image sensor that does not have any pitch deviation between the cores of a polymer optical waveguide array and a photoelectric converter array even though the operating temperature varies, that can prevent generation of pixel deviation, and that can make good reading possible. SOLUTION: The image sensor consists of the polymer optical waveguide array 3, in which plural cores are arranged in a one-dimensional array shape in a clad substrate inner section, and the photoelectric converter array 4, which detects the light beams propagated through the array 3 and converts the beams into electric signals. A hollow shaped thermal expansion suppression member 8 is provided to the coupling portion of the arrays 3 and 4 so that the thermal expansion coefficient of the member 8 in the core arrangement direction of the array 3 is made smaller than the thermal expansion coefficient of the array 3 in the same direction. |
