PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display names of roads that are extended in longitudinal and lateral directions so that a user can easily recognize the names by switching the display so that the name of the road is properly displayed in accordance with the direction of the road on the display. SOLUTION: A processing device 1 fist reads road data through a drive device 3. Then, the roads represented by the data are drawn on a display device 2 using the area, direction and scale data to be displayed on the screen based on the link data of the road and one of the name data is read from the data. Then, among the link, which represents the link data of the road data corresponding to the name data, the one, which is close to the coordinates that display the text represented by the name data, is extracted and the angle drawn on the device 2 is computed. If the angle is within a prescribed range, the text being represented by the data is displayed in a lateral direction at the coordinates specified by the name data with a beforehand set display color. If the angle exceeds the prescribed range, the text is displayed in a lateral direction with a different display color 2. |
