摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of calculations at the time of decoding a high efficiency coded signal. SOLUTION: An input signal is subjected to orthogonal transformation, and its direct and alternating current components are recorded as a high efficiency coded signal on a record medium 106. After the alternating component of the high efficiency coded signal which is reproduced and demodulated is subjected to variable length decoding and inverse quantization, it is subjected to inverse orthogonal transformation together with the direct current component. In the meantime, a correction value deciding part 111 decides the minimum and maximum values of demodulated direct current components as correction values and a correcting part 112 corrects a luminance distribution of outputs of the inverse orthogonal transformation by using the correction values. Since the correction values are obtained only from the direct current components, only processing in the unit of an orthogonal transform block is enough so that the amount of calculations can be reduced in comparison with the conventional practice.
