PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the image drift caused by the electrostatic attractive and shearing forces at the time of a transfer and resolve a defective transfer such as a hollow phenomenon by setting the linear velocities of an image carrier and an intermediate transfer body respectively to eliminate the displacement and distortion generated by the electrostatic attractive and shearing forces between the image carrier and the intermediate transfer body at the time of a primary transfer. SOLUTION: A velocity fluctuation is reduced to prevent an image drift, and a photoreceptor drum 9 and an intermediate transfer belt 19 are merely made slippery to realize this state. A lubricant 37 is applied to at least one of the photoreceptor drum 9 and the intermediate transfer belt 19. The lubricant 37, e.g. zinc stearate, arranged to be brought into contact with the brush roller 10-2 of a photoreceptor cleaning unit 10 is applied to the photoreceptor drum 9. The lubricant 37 is applied to the intermediate transfer belt 19 by a coating device 36 constituted of the lubricant 37 cooled and solidified with the zinc stearate and a brush 38. |
