PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the sticking amount of a toner on a patch (toner patch) without providing a reference density patch for controlling image density as an exclusive region on the image carrier. SOLUTION: While an intermediate transfer belt 10 makes one round turning, the reflected light of the light irradiated on the surface 10a of the intermediate transfer belt 10 from a detecting element 21 is detected by the light-receiving element of the detecting element 21, before the sticking amount of a toner of the intermediate transfer belt is detected. On the basis of the quantity of light detected thereby, the sticking amount of a toner on a toner patch that is formed on the surface 10a and detected by the above light-receiving element is corrected. Thereby, even if the surface 10a of the intermediate transfer belt 10 is stained by remained toner or the lapse of time or the like, the sticking amount of a toner on a reference density patch can be accurately detected by the above correction. |
