<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data input device that can input not only shift data or rotation data on an X-Y coordinate but also shift data and rotation data to the screen of the display of a computer with a coordinate orthogonal to the X-Y coordinate or a coordinate inclined to the X-Y coordinate as a reference. SOLUTION: A first encoder 2 and a second encoder 3 are driven by rotating a spherical operation body 1 called a track ball. Pulse outputs can be obtained from the respective encoders 2 and 3 and an object displayed on the screen moves or rotates. When a posture sensor 5 detects the inclination of a main body case 7, a coordinate axis rotates and is converted in accordance with the direction and the angle of the inclination. The object can be moved or rotated with the converted coordinate axis as the reference. Thus, a mode controlling a shift operation and a mode for controlling a rotary operation can be switched by operating the mode switch key 6.</p> |
