Winery effluents (1) are filtered through a series of grills (3 and 6), which remove particles down to 0.1 or 1.0mm as required. Effluent first passes through a horizontal grill (3) as it enters the filtration vessel (2) then a vertical cylindrical grill (6). This vertical grill can be cleaned and unblocked by a water spray inside the grill, mounted on a jack. When in use the spray head rotates through 360 deg. cleaning the filter walls. Solids removed can be collected and removed via an inspection hatch (8).
