摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the display defect by an AC after-image and to enable high-quality image display by executing AC driving of alignment layers, thereby specifying the generated after-image (AC after-image) to a specific value or below. SOLUTION: The electrode forming, side substrate of, for example, a transverse electric field type liquid crystal display element consists of a common electrode 1, a gate insulating film 2, pixel electrode 3, passivation film 4, alignment layer 5, glass substrate 7 constituting the electrode forming side substrate, thin-film transistor(TFT) and video signal electrode 12. The AC after-image of the alignment layer 5 of such liquid crystal display element is confined to <=8%. The specific resistance of the liquid crystal layer is specified to >=10<10>Ω.cm. The alignment layer 5 is formed of an org. high polymer contg. at least either of a polymer and oligomer, at least one of which is 5 to 30% of the total molar number in the weight of the long chain alkyl group imparted into an amine component or acidic component.
