PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of erosion or clinker on a nose without increasing the height of a box shaped boiler. SOLUTION: A box shaped boiler comprises a vertical intermediate wall 6 forming a rear heat transfer part 10 overhanging the upper part of a furnace 1 and a nose having one bent part 14 with an inclined surface 13 with a downward gradient of prescribed inclinationα1 toward the rear wall 1b of the furnace the lower end of the intermediate wall 6. In the box shaped boiler, a guide inclined surface 17 is formed between a part near the lower end of the intermediate wall 6 and a part near the upper end of the inclined surface 13 so as to cut off one bent part 14, so that a nose 20 having a first bent part 18 and a second bent part 19 is provided.
