<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly and simply carry out the measuring of head widths functioning as heads actually and the measuring of track widths to be recorded on a tape in a state in which the heads are mounted on a cylinder in the inspection method of a magnetic recorder. SOLUTION: In a processing computer 5, widths of heads functioning actually are detected from timewise changes to be obtained sperately in magnetic heads 2A, 2B by detecting timewise changes of ATF(auto-traffic following) error signals 4a, 4b at the time of reproducing a magnetic tape 3 at a roughly fixed tape speed different from the tape speed at the time of an ordinary reproduction or recording. Head widths functioning actually can be detected in a state a cylinder 1 is attached to a chassis by this method. Moreover, widths of recorded tracks can be estimated by comparing phases of the ATF error signals 4a, 4b obtained separately in the magnetic heads 2A, 2B and by detecting the relative height between plural magnetic heads 2A, 2B.</p> |
