摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect a busy tone signal on a line by providing a frequency range setting means for setting a constant frequency range using a frequency measured by a frequency measuring means as a center as a prescribed frequency range in a busy tone detecting means. SOLUTION: Whether or not any signal is detected on a line is judged by an MODEM part 12, and when a voice is detected, whether or not a signal in a prescribed frequency range using a frequency stored in a busy tone frequency storage area 3a as a center is detected by a frequency detecting part 12a is monitored. Then, the frequency of a busy tone signal actually transmitted from a switchboard housed in a facsimile equipment to a line is measured. Then, a signal on a line in a prescribed frequency range (±10 Hz) using the measured frequency as a center is detected as a busy tone signal so that the exact detection of a busy tone signal can be attained regardless of the housed switchboard.
