摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the alignment of input fiber and input waveguide as well as output fiber and output waveguide without being affected by stray light and to drastically shorten the time required for packaging the input/output fibers by filling a part of a groove with a material which absorbs or scatters light. SOLUTION: The surface of an Si substrate 1 on which clad glass 11 is laminated is provided with the input waveguides 2, the output waveguides 3, slab waveguides 4 and array waveguides 5. The groove 9 is formed at the center of circuits so as to traverse the circuits and a polyimide half-wave plate 7 is inserted into the array wavegude part and is fixed with an adhesive. Further, Indian ink 9 contg. carbon to absorb communication light is packed into the groove 9 of the part intersecting with the lines connecting the input waveguides 2 and the output waveguides 3. The stray light generated at the time of the course alignment of the input/output fiber may be shut off and the time required for the coarse adjustment may be drastically shortened by packing the Indial ink 9.
