METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PLASTIC COATING OF METAL STRIPS BY MEANS OF DIRECT EXTRUSION

The invention relates to a method for plastic coating of metal stips by means of direct extrusion, in which the metal strip is moved in longitudinal direction and heated. A film of molten thermoplastic material is directly applied on one side of the moving metal strip using a nozzle with a wide mouth. The plastic film is then pressed onto the metal strip and is guided through a gap located between two rollers. The roller (laminator roller) resting on the plastic film is kept at a temperature below the melting temperature of the plastic. Optionally, the other side of the metal strip is then coated with a plastic film using the same procedure. When coating a steel strip, the latter is heated in the area of application of the liquid plastic film at a temperature which a higher than the melting temperature of the corresponding plastic material.
