<p>A conversion axis gearset (38) outputs torque to a wing cross shaft (58) and a main transmission input shaft (40) having pinion (41) connected thereto. Pinion (41) drives upper face gear (43) and lower face gear (47) connected, respectively, to first helical pinion (45) and second helical pinion (50) which together drive internal helical ring gear (52), which in turn drives a proprotor output (54). This splits the torque from input pinion (41) and then recombines the split torque for supply to the proprotor (25), allowing the face gears (43, 47) to be small and lightweight compared to the size required to carry the full torque from the pinion (41).</p> |
