ATM cell descrambling circuit

The circuit includes a determination unit (32) which determines for each ATM cell if the cell is unnecessary and is not used in a higher layer of the ATM communication. A cell descrambling operation is on hold for a predetermined period. Preferably, the predetermined period starts directly after the head section of an unnecessary cell and continuous to the start of the data, which are necessary for the descrambling operation for the next cell.
