The transport container for spent nuclear reactor fuel elements incorporates a radiation protection cover (61) and internal partitions which form cells (67) for accommodation of fuel elements. These cells have a size adapted to capsules (68) with room for at most three fuel elements. Absorbent material (62,66) is included in the transport container, and is enclosed in the protective cover and/or the internal partitions.
