The valuables locker (1) is used in an automobile for storing personal effects and technical equipment, to prevent tampering, theft, or damage. It is divided into 2 separate compartments (2,3) which are separately accessed via the same security lock (4), using respective access codes. The access code for opening one of the compartments is known to the vehicle owner, while the access code for opening the other compartment is not known and must be obtained from a central control via a radio or telephone connection. The unknown code can be altered each time the compartment is unlocked.
