One or both scissor jaws (3, 4) contain a recess (10) enclosing the hinge pin (5). This accommodates an adjusting nut (6) prevented from axial movement by two stops (16, 17). The nut screws onto a bush (21) enclosing the pin and fitting over a non-round middle portion (23) of the latter. The bush moves in the axial direction between the stops. An O-ring or plain washer can fit between an inner surface and the bush.
