Document inlet channel for document transfer system

The document inlet channel includes a document guide unit which has a deformation region where the documents can be bent in a direction perpendicular to the transport direction. A sensor (1) in the deformation region (7) detects the degree of deformation and is linked to a controller (10). The sensor is not activated until the pulling force of the transport rollers (3), of the document transfer unit on the document (9) is sufficient to cause its degree of curvature to reduce and activate the sensor, which through the control system can then reduce the pulling force of the rollers.
