<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-definition image at high speed by providing a 2nd wavelet transforming means for performing convolving operation to an input signal and performing wavelet transformation to the resulting signal in the filter processing of an image processing means. SOLUTION: The image of an original is read by a scanner 12 and converted to an electric signal by an A/D converter and the image is made discrete and outputted as a digital signal. After shading correction is performed to this image signal for correcting the dispersion of photosensitivity in each element of a CCD, the signal is outputted to a 1st wavelet transforming means 1. At the 1st wavelet transforming means 1, the wavelet transformation is performed to the digital image signal and it is decomposed into the coefficient signals of plural frequency bands. The decomposed coefficient signals of plural frequency bands are transmitted to a quantizing means 2 and quantized for each coefficient signal, the signal is processed by an image processing means 3 for obtaining the high-definition image, and the processed image signal is transformed to a real spatial image signal by an inverse wavelet transforming means 4 and outputted to a printer 5.</p> |
