<p>A Heil type acoustic transducer is provided which has a concertina type diaphragm (11) disposed in a magnetic field in a diaphragm receiving opening (9) provided by a magnetic circuit means (3). The diaphragm (11) carries an electrical conductor path (13). The magnetic circuit means (3) is modular and for a transducer of larger dimensions two or more modules are stacked adjacent one another to define a common diaphragm receiving opening (9), and a single diaphragm (11) of correspondingly larger dimensions is then provided in the diaphragm opening (9). The diaphragm (11) has a heat sink (15) extending at each end of the diaphragm (11). The electrical conductor path (13) has at least two conductor paths over an active magnetic field area of the diaphragm, and a user can select an optimum impedance for the transducer by connecting those paths either in parallel or in series. The electrical conductor path (13) can be two layers of co-extending conductors on top of each other at a left hand side region and a right hand side region of the diaphragm (11) so there are several conductor thicknesses in both side regions.</p> |
